With the recent announcement of the closure of Family Service & Community Mental Health Center in McHenry, Pioneer Center for Human Services has expanded the focus of its Mental Health Recovery Day on Friday, June 15, to encourage Family Service clients to attend the event and learn about resources available.

As Family Services' closure rapidly approaches, Pioneer Center is diligently working in collaboration with local behavioral health care networks and the McHenry County Mental Health Board to ensure that individuals have continued access to services.

'We are poised and ready to provide quality services in the transition of individuals' care,' said Patrick Maynard, Ph.D., president and CEO of Pioneer Center.

The Mental Health Recovery Day event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Emricson Park, 900 W. South St. in Woodstock. The event is open to the community and will address mental health resources available, along with discussions focusing on recovery.

Event speakers include Sandy Lewis, executive director of the McHenry County Mental Health Board; Susan Krause, interim vice president of programs for Pioneer Center for Human Services; and numerous consumer advocates.
