The District of Columbia Department of Health issued the following news release:
The District of Columbia Department of Health (DOH) Addiction Prevention and Recovery Administration (APRA) revised its moving date for the following programs to June 15, 2006. This decision was made after extensive consultation with numerous stakeholders, including clients, city officials, agency staff and the District of Columbia City Council. The following programs will be affected by the move:
Women's Services Center program will be moved from its current location at Building 13, 1905 E Street, SE to a new home on the 2nd Floor of 1300 First Street, NE. Upon that move, Women's Services Center will be renamed: 'Women's Model Treatment Center' (WMTC);
Assessment and Referral Service (ARC) will be moved from Building 12, 1900 Massachusetts Ave., SE to Building 13, 1905 E Street, SE.
The move, scheduled for June 15th, provides improved and accessible services for District residents and families struggling with substance abuse.
'It was essential to further consult with our community and institutional partners in an effort to promote greater transparency and awareness surrounding the relocation of these critical programs,' said Robert L. Johnson, Director of Substance Abuse Services for the District. 'Communication is key. That's important since we have to recognize the potential impact of services on our community as a whole. In addition, our clients truly appreciated the extended engagement since they understand the significance of growth and change in any endeavor.'
